You will find stories, activities and lesson plans on these pages. Here are some ideas about how you can use them:

Stories

The best stories are those that you share together.

Tell a story. Make up a story, talk about your day, or tell a family story.

Read a book. Sit and hold the book together. Introduce the title and author. Children can turn the pages.

Visit the library. You can borrow books for free, or you can read a story there. Many libraries have a free activity called “story hour” where librarians read stories to young children. Some story hours also have songs or crafts. Ask your librarian about story hours at your library.

Watch stories together. Pause the story to look at the pictures and talk about them. You can pause when a question is asked in the story – that is how little minds learn! Ask questions about the stories. Try questions like:

  • What is this?
  • Who is that?
  • What do you think happens next?
  • What did we just learn?

Songs

Singing songs can help teach new ideas to little minds.

  • Make up your own songs or try some of the songs listed here.
  • Listen to songs over and over again – and sing along with children.
  • It can help to pause faster songs and review the words with your little one.
  • Making up dances and hand motions makes songs even more fun!

Playlists

A fun mix of songs and stories.

Stuck in a car for a while? Sitting in the waiting room? Waiting at the bus stop? We have built playlists on YouTube with songs and stories.

Activities

Children learn by doing.

  • Simple steps like stirring, cutting, pasting, gluing, and tracing are important – even if an adult can do them faster, it is important that children practice these skills.

Lesson Plans

Make learning fun for groups large or small.

  • Our expert educators created lesson plans to help introduce ideas in a classroom-like setting. These bundle well with stories, songs, and activities to create a robust experience for the children.
